Mark H. Anderson is a shareholder at Nielsen & Senior where he devotes most of his practice to serving as general counsel for numerous clients including Alta Hotel Group, Kearns Improvement District, Central Weber Sewer Improvement District, South Davis Sewer District, Hooper Water Improvement district, Oquirrh Recreation and Parks District, South Davis Water District, and the Utah Association of Special Districts. An attorney for more than 30 years, Mr. Anderson has extensive experience in assisting local government in structuring contracts, drafting legislation, water regulation, lobbying and litigating claims.
Formerly the chair of the Government Law Section of the Utah State Bar, Mr. Anderson has also served as past chair for Utah of the Public Contract Law Section of the American Bar Association. He has authored a number of manuals and publications on the topics of water use and real estate.
Prior to joining Nielsen & Senior in 1984, he was a partner in the firm of Boyden, Kennedy & Romney in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Anderson received his juris doctor degree from the University of Utah in 1975 where he was selected as a member of the Order of the Coif and served as an associate editor and author for the Utah Law Review. He clerked with Judge Aldon J. Anderson of the United States District Court for the District of Utah and with Judge Monroe McKay of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Anderson also has a masters degree (1974) and bachelors degree (1971) from Utah State University (valedictorian, College of Agriculture).
Active in the community, he is past president of the Foothill Rotary Club and the Salt Lake Sunrise Rotary Club and is president elect of the Murray Rotary Club, serves on the Utah State University Extion Council, and has spent time as a hearing officer of the Utah Personnel Review Board. He also serves on the executive board of the Ute Conference, a junior football league serving approximately 9,000 youth.
