Personal Injury

Personal injury is an area of law that addresses injuries to the body caused by the negligence of another.  Personal injury can encompass both physical and emotional injury.  Oftentimes, personal injury causes of actions are also referred to as “torts”.  The most common type of personal injury cases result from injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall accidents or other similar type injury.  Personal injury can also include injuries resulting from a faulty or unsafe product, medical or dental malpractice.

If the negligence of another party can be proved, the injured party may be entitled to monetary compensation from that party. Attorneys often represent clients on a "contingency basis," in which the attorney's fee is a percentage of the plaintiff's eventual compensation, payable when the case is resolved. Oftentimes, having an attorney becomes essential because cases become extremely complex.  All personal injuries have a statute of limitations.  A statute of limitations is a time limit which requires you to bring your claim within the time period or lose the right to be compensated for your injury forever.
